The Short story:
The Roanoke College baseball team posted an 11-run inning for the second time in three games Wednesday, this time in the second inning of a 15-0 win over visiting Averett University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Maroons posted an 11-run fifth inning Saturday at Lynchburg in a 21-8 conference win.
Jackson Murphy threw seven innings of shutout baseball to earn his first win of the 2024 season. He allowed just four hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
How it happened:
*After a scoreless first frame and one down in the second, the Maroons had 13 consecutive batters reach base safely before a double play ended the frame. A
Hayden Giordano three-run triple and a
Cayden Freels double were two of the big hits in the inning.
*Roanoke added single runs in the third, fifth, seventh and eighth innings.
Inside the numbers:
* Every Maroon starter had a hit and scored and every batter credited with an at bat had a hit.

Corey Coogan went 2-5 with a double, a walk and three RBI.

Tucker Schiavoni was 2-4 with two walks and Freels also had two hits.

Jack Fehlner was 2-2.
