HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles assumed a 2-1 lead after doubles competition. Zach Kriebel and Federico Maccari picked up a point for the Maroons at No. 1, defeating Mark Gordon and Gabe Elder 8-6. But Matthew Leonard and Noah Hughes bested Jackson Wagner and Julio Marques 8-6 at No. 2, and Corey Beshoar and Bryce Cline handed Hardt Lesko and Lance Beheler an 8-4 setback at No. 3.
- The Maroons turned the tide by winning in the top three singles flights. Maccari knocked off Leonard 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1, Maccari secured a 6-1, 6-2 win over Beshoar at No. 2, and Marques outdueled Gordon 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 3.
- Bridgewater grabbed victories at No. 4 singles, where Elder defeated Lesko 6-4, 6-3, and at No. 5, with Hughes dispatching Wagner 6-4, 6-1.
- But in a match that was moved from Elizabeth Campus to the Salem Civic Center courts due to nightfall, Beheler secured a dramatic win for the Maroons by beating Cline 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
