The Short story: Despite home runs from Hayden Giordano and Hunter von Zelowitz, Maryville College defeated the Roanoke College baseball team 7-3 in non-conference play Tuesday.

How it happened:
*Roanoke opened a 1-0 lead in the first frame on a Jonny Wall sacrifice fly.
*Maryville tied the game with one run in the bottom of the first before Giordano and von Zelowitz hit solo homers in the fourth to give RC a 3-1 edge.
*The Scots plated three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away.

Inside the numbers:
*Wall and Giordano each had two hits, while Giordano and von Zelowitz each walked.
*Jackson Murphy got the start on the hill and limited the hosts to one run over four innings allowing two hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
*Jack Robinson tossed a perfect frame in the eighth with one strikeout.
*Jimmy Meredith was 2-3 with four RBI for Maryville (7-6).
