HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars swept all three doubles points to assume the early lead. The top-flight doubles match went to a tiebreak, with Keira Gunning and Siddhi Khandelwal slipping past Halle Fernstrum and Bella Gustafson 8-7 (7-4).
• Averett rolled to victories in the other two doubles contests. Brenda Poulakidas and Jennika Jaison defeated Victoria Rios and Lia Streibich 8-1 at No. 2, while Elisa Battermann and Dilara Sultanova claimed an 8-0 win over Julia Bassett and Camryn Breedlove at No. 3.
• The Cougars clinched the match with a pair of singles wins. Poulakidas defeated Bassett 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, and Siddhi Khot knocked off Zane Maiden 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
• Due to extremely windy conditions, the match was played only to completion.
