The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team cut a 15-point deficit to just six with under a minute to play Wednesday night, but Guilford College hung on for a 53-43 victory in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Quakers are ranked No. 9 this week in NCAA Division III.
How it happened:
* Roanoke took a 10-6 lead seven minutes into the game after a
Zach Rosenthal three pointer. Guilford forged a 19-18 advantage at intermission of a low scoring first half.
*Roanoke scored the first basket of the second half to go ahead by one but the Quakers used a 11-0 run to take a 30-20 edge. GC extended the lead to 15 (47-32) before the Maroons started a furious comeback. A 9-0 Roanoke surge, capped by a three-pointer by
Joshua McClary with 53 seconds left, made it just a 47-41 game. Guilford sealed the game by sinking its last six shots from the free-throw line.

Marcus Morgan netted a team-high 14 points with five rebounds.

Joshua Morse finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while McClary had nine points, four steals and two blocks.

Justin Kuthan grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds with three steals.
*Tyler Dearman paced Guilford (21-3/12-3 ODAC) with 20 points and four steals while Julius Burch corralled a game-high 17 rebounds.
