The Short story: The Roanoke College wrestling team competed in two different events this weekend in Pennsylvania, winning the 15th Annual New Standard Invitational, hosted by York College, and taking fourth at the Blue Jay Classic, hosted by Elizabethtown College.
How it happened (New Standard Invite):
*The Maroons had wrestlers place in eight of the 10 weight classes, including two winners and two runners up.
*At 157 pounds,
Andrew McDougal won six matches to claim the individual title. His first two wins were via pins and he won the title match 9-0 by major decision over his foe from Washington & Lee University. Â

David Reid captured the title at 165 pounds, pinning his first four opponents, the first in 2:29, the second in 2:22, the third in one minute and the fourth in 53 seconds. He won five matches overall and scored a 5-3 win in the finals.
*
Isiac Paulino and
Jonah Paulino were second at 125 and 133 pounds, respectively. Isiac won three matches en route to the finals, while Jonah won four, two by pin and two by technical fall.
*
Vincenzo Corvetto placed third at 184 pounds,
Cam Cavins took fourth at 197,
Dustin Smith was sixth at 149 and
Kyle Lee was sixth at 174. Â
How it happened (Blue Jay Classic):
*Roanoke placed fourth with 130.5 team points, just 1.5 points out of second place. A total of eight Maroons finished in the top six spots.

Michael Policarpio won three matches to place second at 133 pounds.
*
Garrett Hughes was third at 149 pounds, earning four wins, two by fall.
*
Andru Boyd placed third at 157 with four wins, two in the sudden victory session, while
Alexander Quintano was fifth in the same weight class.

Josh Epperly grabbed third at 184 and
Samuel Aponte was fifth at 125
*
Jack Bobeck and
Andrew Kehoe were sixth at 165 and 174, respectively.
