The Short story:
Sophomore forward Gavin O'Malley scored a career-high 22 points Friday to lead the Roanoke College men's basketball team to a 93-73 win over Montclair State University (N.J.) in the Cruzin Classic.

Roanoke shot a season-best 67 percent from the field for the game (35-52).

How it happened:  
* The Maroons trailed 14-10 seven minutes into the game and 21-17 with 8:42 left in the first half. Roanoke scored the next 12 points in a three-minute span to take a 29-21 lead and went ahead 40-28 at intermission.
*Roanoke led by double figures the entire second half.

Inside the numbers:
*O'Malley made 10-of-11 shots from the floor to post a game-high point total and grabbed six rebounds.
*Joshua McClary had a full stat line of 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.
*Marcus Morgan had 15 points and four assists and Jackson Bell had 14 points, four assists and two steals.
*Mike Jackson had a team-high 16 points for Montclair State (6-4).
