SALEM, Va. -- The Roanoke wrestling team opened the 2024-25 season on Saturday by hosting the 2024 Southeast Open in the Cregger Center. The competition included a field with Division I, Division II and Division III teams.  

The Maroons had three place winners between the freshmen/sophomore and open divisions.

Maroon Placewinners:
*In the Open Division, junior Isiac Paulino placed sixth with a victory against an opponent from North Carolina University.
*Sophomore Lorenzo Pellot took third at 197 pounds in the freshman/sophomore division. He bested foes from Newberry, Campbell and VMI.
*Sophomore Xavier Preston at 174 pounds also was third in the freshmen/sophomore division. He defeated two opponents from Campbell University and one from Chattanooga.

Roanoke will next be in action Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Averett University Cougar Classic.
