BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Roanoke College women's tennis team was taken down by the Southern Virginia Knights by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon. 

How It Happened 

• SVU swept doubles action with the No. 1 pair of Lia Streibich and Bella Gustafson as well as the No. 3 of Cameron Breedlove and Sidney Wright falling 6-0. The No. 2 duo of Julia Bassett and Victoria Rios were taken down by a score of 6-1. 

• After the Knights took the No. 1 singles match, Gustafson fought her way to victory in the No. 2 spot, winning her sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-3. 

• The Maroons were unable to take down SVU in any of the other singles match-ups but Rios made it a tight match at the No. 4 slot, taking it to 6-4 and 7-5 in her sets. 

• Maddie Morrell grabbed a victory for Roanoke in an exhibition match by a score of 8-5. 

Up Next 

The women are back in action on Oct. 10 when they travel to Pfeiffer for a 10:00 am match in Misenheimer, N.C.
