WINCHESTER, Va. - The Roanoke College field hockey team was stymied by the preseason favorites Shenandoah University Hornets on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened 

• Shenandoah opened the scoring in the first minute of the game to give them the 1-0 lead at halftime. 

• Shenandoah put in two quick goals at the start of the second half to make it 3-0. 

• The Maroons got one back shortly after to keep the hope alive. 

• Shenandoah put three more in to round out the scoring. 

Notes and Notables 

• Beach's goal was her third this season. 

• DeModna's assist is her first of the season. 

• Grace Vernarelli led the team in shots with six. 

• DeModna, Lindsey Keyes, and Carsyn Poppa all registered shots as well. 

• Goaltender Madison Wingerter recorded a season high 13 saves in the contest.
