The Short story:
Junior Joshua Morse netted a career-high 23 points Wednesday evening as the Roanoke College men's basketball team defeated Averett University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest from the Cregger Center.

How it happened:
*The Maroons started the game ahead 12-2 behind two three pointers from Zach Rosenthal. Roanoke extended the lead to as many as 25 points before entering halftime ahead 42-22.
*Averett pulled to within 14 at 70-56 with 5:18 remaining, but could get no closer. Morse scored 13 of his game-high point total in the second half, sinking 6-of-7 shots from the floor.

Inside the numbers:
*Justin Kuthan had 21 points and nine rebounds, while Morse also grabbed nine boards.
*Marcus Morgan had 12 points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals.
*Joshua McClary contributed seven points, seven assists and four rebounds.
*Jamison Graves had 20 points for the Cougars.
