The Short story: The Roanoke College men's volleyball team rallied for a five-set win Friday night in the Bast Center over visiting Lees-McRae College, a Division II program.
How it happened:
*Lees-McRae took two of the first three sets but the Maroons fought back to win the fourth game 25-14. The visiting Bobcats went ahead 7-5 in the fifth and deciding set, but Roanoke scored 10 of the last 11 points to seal the victory.
Jackson Rutkowski served out the match for Roanoke, drilling aces in the final two points.
Inside the numbers:
*Rutkowski had a team-best 16 kills while
Michael Cummins had 15.

Colin Mendoza drilled nine kills and
Pierce Faulcon had eight.
*
Leo Houser handed out 30 assists and
Dominic Wheaton had five blocks.

The Maroons (2-2) host four matches Saturday in the Cregger Center, including two neutral site contests. Roanoke will face Wittenberg University at 10 a.m. and Southern Virginia University at 4 p.m.
