The Short Story:  Brooke Nicholson got the Roanoke women's soccer team on the board early in the second half, but the comeback fell short as Grove City escaped Kerr Stadium with a 3-1 win to close out action at the Roanoke Invitational. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Despite the Maroons out shooting the Wolverines 12-5 in the first half, Grove City got the lone goal of the period in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
• Nicholson took less than five minutes to score the Maroons goal in the second half at 49:58.
• GCC retook the lead in the 58th minute and scored an insurance goal in the 88th to take the contest 3-1.

BY THE NUMBERS

• MC Petrucelli led the Maroons with four shots while both Nicholson and Rebecca Carr each had three. 
• Taylor Gallik made eight saves while in goal for all 90 minutes.
