The Short Story:Â After a scoreless first half, the Roanoke men's soccer team got the game-winning goal from
Carter Laatsch as the Maroons leave Ohio with a 1-0 win over Marietta.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half saw Roanoke out shoot the Pioneers 5-4 and take more corners, 3-2, but neither team was able to find the back of the net as they headed into halftime tied at 0-0.
- In the 67th minute, Laatsch was able to find an opening an fire a goal past the Marietta goalkeeper, giving the Maroons a 1-0 lead with a little more than 23 minutes left in regulation.
- Both teams locked down their defense with the Maroons taking two more shots while holding the hosts without one before the final horn as the Maroons wrapped up their second trip to Ohio this season with a 1-0 shutout.
