The Short Story: Lynchburg dealt the visiting Roanoke College women's tennis team an 8-1 setback in conference action on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets claimed all three points from doubles action. Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey topped Halle Fernstrum and Julia Bassett 8-5 at #1, Lara Karrass and Alexa Hardesty knocked off Lia Streibich and Victoria Rios 8-4 at the #2 spot, and Reese McAtee and Ashley Hair bested Emma Johnson and Zane Maiden 8-3 at #3.
- The Maroons' lone point came at #2 singles, where Streibich picked up her fourth straight victory by downing Hair 6-2, 7-5.
- Lynchburg clinched the match with singles wins for Jordan Ottaviano over Maddie Morrell at #6 (6-2, 6-3) and Karrass against Bassett at #3 (6-2, 6-3).
- Elsewhere, Elizabeth Teefey beat Fernstrum at #1 (6-4, 6-2), Hardesty defeated Rios at #4 (7-5, 6-0), and Grace Teefey recorded an 8-2 pro-set win over Maiden at #5.
