The Short Story: The Maroons dropped an 8-1 decision to Shenandoah at home on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets swept all three points from doubles play. Jahveesha Combs and Lily Kimble beat Halle Fernstrum and Julia Bassett 8-3 at the top spot, Allison Cherwien and Jada Lewis slipped past Lia Streibich and Victoria Rios 8-6 at #2, and Kelly Hudak and Erin Talko defeated Zane Maiden and Emma Johnson 8-1 at #3.
- Streibich won her match in straight sets at #2 singles, claiming a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Cherwien.
- Shenandoah collected points from the other five singles contests: Combs over Fernstrum at #1 (6-0, 7-5), Hudak against Bassett at #3 (6-2, 6-3), Kimble over Rios in a super tiebreak at #4 (4-6, 6-3, 12-10), Lewis against Maiden at #5 (8-2), and Talko over Maddie Morrell at #6 (8-0).
