The Short Story:  The Roanoke wrestling team took to the mat in two different locations over the weekend, sending wrestlers to both the Blue Jay Classic and New Standard Invitational in Pennsylvania. 

BLUE JAY CLASSIC PLACERS

• 125 lbs. - Michael Policarpio was fourth and scored 12 team points for the Maroons.
• 133 lbs. - Corey Messick placed second for the second year in a row with 16 team points. 
• 141 lbs. - Dustin Smith finished third with 14 points while Garrett Hughes was sixth.
• 149 lbs. - Jarrod Pominville was fifth with 15 team points.
• 165 lbs. - Andrew McDougal finished fourth and earned 15 points while Josh Epperly was sixth.
• 174 lbs. - Kyle Lee claimed the title with a 4-0 record on the weekend, earning 16.5 points.
• 184 lbs. - Christos Avgeros finished fifth with nine team points.
• 197 lbs. - Lorenzo Pellot was fifth with 12.5 team points. 
• 285 lbs. - Marco Malerba went 4-2 to finish fifth with 11.5 points.

NEW STANDARD INVITATIONAL PLACERS

• 125 lbs. - Mac Cafurello finished third after going 5-1.
• 141 lbs. - Mark Samuel claimed the title with a 5-0 record 
• 165 lbs. - Jacob Cherry was the runner-up with a 4-1 record.
• 184 lbs. - Vincenzo Corvetto finished fifth after going 4-2.
