The Lead: The Roanoke College women's tennis team traveled to Staunton to face Mary Baldwin on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons won a pair of doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. After winning the first five singles flights, Roanoke had picked up the 7-2 non-conference win.
Women's Highlights:
- Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum picked up an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. At the #2 spot, the duo of Julia Bassett and Margriet Bostoen won 8-2.
- Collins went 6-2 and 6-2 at the top spot while Fernstrum picked up a 6-2 and 6-1 win at the #2 spot.
- Bostoen posted a 6-1 and 6-1 win at #3 with her doubles partner, Bassett, winning 6-0 and 6-1 at the four-spot.
- Sophie Bartholomaus wrapped up the 7-2 win with a 6-0 and 6-0 win at #5 singles.
What's Next: The Maroons travel to Hilton Head (S.C.) to compete in four matches over Spring Break, March 7-10.
