The Lead: The Roanoke College women's tennis team hosted Sweet Briar at the Elizabeth Campus Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Vixens took all three doubles matches to take the early 3-0 advantage. The Maroons would win a pair of the six singles matches but fell to 1-1 after the 7-2 loss to Sweet Briar.
Highlights:
- At #3 singles, Halle Fernstrum won the first set 6-1 and then held off Kate Kotnay, 7-5, to pick up the straight sets win.
- For the second time in as many matches, Sophie Bartholomaus would pick up a win at #6 singles (1 and 2).
- Roanoke had their best chance in doubles at the #3 spot. Bartholomaus and Margriet Bostoen fell by the slimmest of margins, 8-7.
Up next: The women travel to Lexington to take on Washington and Lee on Tuesday afternoon.
