The Lead: The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team hosted Ferrum College on Wednesday afternoon looking for their second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of the season. The Panthers scored first, but seven unanswered Maroon scores would allow RC to pull away early. Roanoke would enjoy a 67-15 shot advantage on their way to a 25-3 ODAC victory.

How it Happened:

  • The Panthers would net the first goal of the afternoon a little over three minutes into the game.
  • Roanoke answered with a trio of scores in a one minute stretch. Quinn Evans scored off a pass from Anthony Beccaria at the 9:30 mark of the first quarter. 40 seconds later Ethan Caldwell scored his first of the matchup off a feed from Luke Kammerman. Less than 30 seconds later, Kammerman added an unassisted goal to make it 3-1.
  • All seven of the Maroon's first period goals would either be scored by or assisted on by Beccaria, Caldwell, or Kammerman.
  • The second 15 minute period would see seven more Roanoke scores. Caldwell got his third just 29 seconds into the quarter. George Gilbert scored from Kammerman before Luke scored another unassisted goal. Mid-way through the period, Carson Peck  gave Roanoke a 10 goal cushion. Luca Docking got in on the act in between Caldwell and Beccaria goals to make it 14-1 at the break.
  • In the third period, another seven goals would give the Maroons a 21-2 edge. Gilbert added two more scores while Kammerman and Caldwell continued to add to their big games. Wyatt Whitlow, Owen Curry, and Jamison Young made it 12 different goal scores over the first 45 minutes of play.
  • The Maroons took their foot off the gas in a fourth quarter that would see Evans and Curry add two more scores while Jay Frye tallied a pair, giving him three on the evening.
  • Caldwell finished with five goals and two helpers while Frye, Gilbert, and Kammerman scored three times each.
  • Matt Federau played the first three quarters in net and recorded five saves on his way to his third win of the season.

Up Next: Roanoke travels to Greensboro for an ODAC game with Guilford College on Saturday, March 27th.
