The Lead: The Roanoke College men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Lynchburg to face Randolph College on Saturday. The men took two of the three doubles points and four singles matches for the 6-3 win. The women won a pair of doubles matches and all five singles matches for the 7-0 sweep of the WildCats.
Men's Highlights:
- At #2 doubles, the duo of Dalton Capobianco and Zach Kriebel picked up a point with an 8-5 win. After Randolph forfeited at the #3 spot, the Maroons had a 2-1 edge.
- Capobianco posted a 6-0 and 6-1 win in his singles match while doubles partner Kriebel won as well, 6-1 and 6-2.
- Thomas Hodges picked up another win at the #5 spot with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory.
Women's Highlights:
- Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum cruised to an 8-0 win at #1 doubles. At the #2 spot, Roanoke picked up a another win with Margriet Bostoen and Olivia Maccluen taking the match 8-1.
- The Maroons would go a perfect 5-5 in singles play.
- Collins won at the top spot 6-3 and 6-0 while Fernstrum posted a 6-1 and 6-2 win at #2.
- Bostoen was a 6-1 and 6-0 winner at #3 while Maccluen finished off her opponent 6-0 and 6-2 at the four spot.
- Dana Meyer added a fifth point in singles with a 6-0 and 6-0 victory.
Up next: Both teams will travel to Bridgewater on Tuesday afternoon to face the Eagles.
