The Lead: The Roanoke College women's tennis team kicked off their 2021 season with a trip to Guilford to face the Quakers in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Maroons would take two of three in doubles play and built a lead that the home team could not come back from in posting a 6-3 victory.
Highlights:
- Olivia Maccluen and Halle Fernstrum took the #2 doubles match 8-3 with the duo of Sophie Bartholomaus and Margriet Bostoen posted an 8-1 win at the 33 spot.
- In singles play, the quartet of winners in the doubles round would post a 4-0 mark in individual play.
- Fernstrum, 6-1 and 6-1, and Maccluen, 6-1 and 6-0, won at the 33 and #5 spots.
- Bostoen (#4) and Bartholomaus (#6) would each post straight sets victories for the Maroons.
Up next: The women will host Sweet Briar next Sunday, March 7, on the courts of the Elizabeth Campus Complex.
