The Lead: The Roanoke College women's tennis team played their final of four matches this fall when they hosted Covenant College on Friday afternoon. RC won at #1 doubles but found themselves down 2-1 after the trio of doubles matches. Covenant swept the singles matches and took the match, 8-1.
Women's Highlights:
- Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum won a hard-fought match, 8-6, at the top doubles spot.
- In singles play, Julia Bassett fell, 4-6, in the opening set but rallied to take the second, 6-4, and force a tie-breaker. Nicole Restrepo was able to regain the momentum and took the third set, 10-5, to pick up the win at #4.
- At #5 singles, Sophie Bartholomaus found herself in the same spot as Bassett, 4-6 and 6-4. As was the case at the #4 spot, the Covenant player would take the tie-breaker, 10-4, giving the Scots a sweep of the (six) singles matches.
What's Next: That was the finale match of the fall and the women will pick up play for the spring term in late February.
