The Lead: Roanoke opened up its spring women's tennis season with a 9-0 ODAC win over Guilford on Friday afternoon in Salem.
How it Happened
- Roanoke dropped just one game in doubles play to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
- Jessica Kennedy and Lucy Collins teamed up at No. 1 doubles to top Delaney Taylor and Makayla Mclaurin 8-1.
- The No. 2 team of Janny Alvarado and Carolyn Kitsock and the No. 3 duo of Kelly MacCluen and Sophie Bartholomaus each won their matches 8-0 to give RC a 3-0 edge.
- Kennedy would top Mclaurin 6-1, 6-1 while Collins defeated Taylor 6-1, 6-3 in singles.
- Kitsock was victorious 6-0, 6-1 over Olivia La Ganza in No. 3 singles and Janny Alvarado knocked off Megan Kimpel 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
- MacCluen and Bartholomaus each won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively for the Maroons.
