The Lead: Roanoke remained perfect in ODAC play with a 3-2 win at home over the Hornets of Shenandoah.
How It Happened:
- Just four minutes into play, Megan Stevens found the back of the cage for the Hornets on a corner with the assist from Kayla Alderman.
- Roanoke countered late in the first half when a Lenore Keunen shot was deflected by Emilee Wooten for a goal to tie up the game in the 32nd minute.
- With 25 minutes left to play in the contest, Taylor Hayes scored on a high, hard shot just under the cross-bar to take the lead back for the Hornets.
- Once again, RC answered when Kestrel Thorne-Kaunelis scored on a rebound of a Wooten shot, tying the game at the 46:44 mark.
- Megan Diehl provided the game-winner with five minutes left to play following a corner with the assist from Keunen to give RC the lead for the first time in the game.
- Emma Clark had six saves in goal for the Maroons and Isabella Morande had seven saves for the Hornets.
- The win moves RC to 10-1 on the year. The Maroons earn double-digit victories for the third consecutive year, marking just the second time in school history that has happened.
