The Lead: Roanoke opened the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over NC Wesleyan.Sydney Daniel led the way for RC with 14 kills, while Jessica Block dished out 44 assists. Defensively, Alexandra Martin recorded 28 digs on the night.   Roanoke won the first two games, before NCWC rallied to take the the next two. RC took game five 15-8.
 
How it Happened 

• The first game was a back and forth affair with RC opening up a 24-19 lead following an Allison White kill. NCWC battled back and took the next four points to cut it to 24-23.  The teams would exchange points before back-to-back kills by Logan Graves and Block sealed the game.
   
• After RC won game two, NCWC battled back to tie the match at 2-2.
   
• In the fifth and deciding game, RC jumped out to an 11-5 lead on aKylah Blackmore kill on an assist from Block. NCWC would cut the lead to 11-7 before the Marrons would take four of the next five points to seal the win.
