The Lead: Two Roanoke goals in the span of 2:08 in the second-half proved to be the difference as the Maroons topped Ferrum 3-2 Tuesday evening in a packed Kerr Stadium.
How it Happened:- Tim Mahabir got the scoring started by taking the ball down the left side and finished with a left footed kick that beat the Ferrum keeper to the left side of the net.
- The Maroons had a chance to double their lead with 13:30 left to play in the first-half but Marshall Hodge's shot went just wide.
- Keith Ricks scored the first of his two goals on the night when he was able slip a shot past RC keeper Cole Sinclair with just over five minutes left in the opening half.
- The match remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the 76th minute when Brandon Bauer collected the ball just outside the box and with one touch sent a blistering left footed shot into the upper left part of the net to make it 2-1 RC.
- Rob Lentine struck 2:08 later when he took a pass from Jackson Goyette and scored to make it 3-1.
- RC outshot Ferrum 12-6 and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Sinclair made four stops in net for RC, while Ferrum's Joe Martin made two saves.
Up NextRoanoke will head to Madison, New Jersey to take part in the Drew Invitational. RC will play Drew on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and the College of New Jersey on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
