SALEM – The Roanoke College women's tennis team defeated Shenandoah 8-1 on Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup.
Shenandoah got the best of the Maroons in the #1 doubles contest, as
Emily Henderson and
Briell Smith fell 8-6 to Shannon Allin and Molly Barb, 8-6. However, the Maroons won both #2 and #3 doubles.
Emma Barker and
Reed Kegel defeated Amber Lake and Jeannella Williams 9-8 in #2 doubles.
Catherine Lee and
Kristen McDowell topped Amy Rapp and Caitlin Tilton in the #3 doubles spot, 8-0.
Roanoke swept the singles action, as Henderson defeated Molly Barb 6-3, 6-5 in #1 singles.
Reed Kegel defeated Jeannella Williams 6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles, while
Emma Barker won 6-3, 6-2 over Amy Rapp.
Briell Smith,
Kaitlyn Diskerud and Lydia Day all won in their singles matches, blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
The Maroons will be back in action on Sunday, March 22
nd as they play host to Guilford College at 1:00 PM. There will be food, including pizza and hot dogs for those in attendance that provide a $3 dollar minimum donation to the women's tennis team.
