The Lead:Randolph-Macon outscored Roanoke by 11 points in the third period to break open what was a 10 point contest at the half, sending the Yellow Jackets to a 78-57 ODAC Women's Basketball victory Tuesday night in Ashland, Va.
How it Happened- Cary Beahm tied her season-high with 27 points for the Maroons making 11-of-15 shots from the field and she also grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
- R-MC jumped out to an early 10-0 lead when Hannah Livermon connected on a three-pointer for the Jackets. The Yellow Jacket lead grew to 21-6 before the Maroons battled back and closed the opening period on a 10-2 run to make it 23-16 after 10 minutes of play.
- Roanoke was able to chip away at the R-MC lead in the second period, cutting it to 35-32 with 2:27 to go in the half following five straight points by Beahm. The Yellow Jackets responded with seven unanswered points to close the half to take a 10 point lead into the intermission.
- In the decisive third period, R-MC used a 15-2 run to open up the half, taking a 57-34 advantage on a Katie Anderson jumper with just over four minutes to play.
- Livermon led R-MC with 22 points, while Anderson had 17 and Khajae Hester finished with 13.
- The two teams combined to turn the ball over 40 times in the game. The Maroons shot 38.1% from the floor, making 24-of-63 shots from the field and were 1-of-9 from the three-point line.
