The Lead: The Roanoke College Volleyball team had its best season since 2008 come to a close on Saturday morning after suffering a loss to top-seeded Randolph-Macon in the ODAC Semifinals.
How it Happened
- RC played the first set very tight at the beginning, as it was 11-11 in the early stages of the set.
- Courtney Lowers was able to record three kills on a five-point run by the Yellow Jackets to extend the lead to 17-12 for R-MC, which helped lead them to win the set 25-16.
- In game two, Randolph-Macon was able to pull away by taking a 10-5 advantage and maintained the lead to win the set 25-16.
- In the final set, R-MC was able to pull away from a 17-14 lead and took eight of the last 10 points to win the set by the same score as the previous two sets.
- Sydney Daniel finished the match with nine kills, Alexandra Martin led the Maroons with 18 digs and Jessica Block dished out 20 assists.
- The 2015 RC Volleyball season proved to be a memorable one as Head Coach Blair Trail notched her 300th victory against Shenandoah on September 23rd.
- The Maroons set a school record by winning its first 16 games to start the season.
- RC's 22 wins this season are the most wins since 2008 and also the fourth most in single-season history.
