The Lead: The Roanoke College Field Hockey team clinched a spot in 2015 ODAC Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened- The lone goal of the game came at the 15:14 mark of the first-half when Shelbi Holloman slid a crossing pass to Fiona Dougan who one timed a shot past the VWC keeper for the only goal RC would need.
- The RC defense made the lead standup, allowing VWC just five shots for the game and all four that were on goal were turned away by Maroon keeper Heather Schauder.
- It is the first berth in the postseason tournament for the Maroons since the 2005 season.
- RC's 11 wins is the most for the Maroon program since the 2004 season.
- Roanoke will be the 5th seed in ODAC Tournament and will face third-seed Shenandoah Tuesday in Winchester. SU slipped by RC 3-2 in overtime earlier this season. A game time will be announced soon.
