The Lead: The Roanoke Volleyball team dropped a hard fought ODAC match to Washington and Lee 3-1 on Tuesday evening in Lexington, Va.
How it Happened- The Maroons came out and hit a blistering .455 in the opening game to take a 25-17 victory. The Maroons went up 19-12 in game one following an attack error by the Generals. W&L would cut the lead to 19-15 but that would be as close as it would get as RC won six of the final eight points and closed the game out on a Sydney Daniel kill.
- After the Generals tied the match by winning game two, the Maroons found themselves down 19-15 in game three when an Alexandra Martin ace sparked a 5-1 run to tie the game at 20-20. The game would be tied at 22 before W&L scored three straight points to end the game.
- In the fourth game, RC was up 15-8 after a Daniel kill. With RC up 20-16, the Generals scored six straight points to go up 22-20 only to see the Maroons battle back and tie the game up on an ace from Jessica Block. W&L scored back-to-back points to go up 24-22. RC again rallied, tying the game on an Allison White ace, but the Generals scored the next two points to take the match.
- Daniel finished with 11 kills for RC. Kyla Blackmore had nine kills and Logan Graves had seven. Block had 37 assists and Martin notched 16 digs.
Next Up:Roanoke will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Meredith for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference match.
