The Maroons scored early and often in the first half, gaining an early decisive lead over the Hornets.  Roanoke's first goal came from Brandon Bauer at 11:02, his first of his career.  Just two minutes later, Orestis Ilias netted the second goal of the game, his first of the season.  Ilias' goal was assisted by Marc Dinkel.  Dinkel assisted the Maroons next goal as well at 21:10, when Garrett Eldridge fired one past the keeper for the three-goal advantage.  The Maroons maintained their lead to the end of the first half, entering the break ahead 3-0.

Shenandoah put up their first goal on the board at the 55:36 mark, as Eduardo Santiago sailed a corner kick across the box to the feet of Brian Maye, who found the back of the net.  Roanoke answered Shenandoah's goal at 75:42 as Robby Lentine sailed a ball into the back of the net, unassisted to give the Maroons a 4-1 lead.  That would prove to be the Maroons final goal as Roanoke won its ODAC opener 4-1 against Shenandoah University.
