ROANOKE – The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team defeated Hollins University on Tuesday, April 8
th in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. The Maroons now have a record of 11-0 and are 7-0 in ODAC play, while Hollins sits at 0-10, 0-8 in the ODAC.
Tonight's tennis was a rematch of the 2013 ODAC Semifinals, where the Maroons were victorious 5-3. The Maroons, who are now ranked #14 in the latest ITA Atlantic South Region, are undefeated in ODAC play, as well as being undefeated against NCAA Division III opponents.
The Maroons went ahead early in doubles play, sweeping the competition.
Emily Henderson and
Briell Smith defeated Victoria Coffee and Tiffany Hodges 8-3 at #1 doubles.
Reed Kegel and
Emma Barker played together at #2 doubles, besting Madeline Perry and Ashley Gao, 8-1.
Kristen McDowell and
Brianna Carroll topped the team of Shazadi and Htet Myat San, 8-1.
In singles action, Hollins won at the #1 spot as Coffee defeated Roanoke's McDowell, 6-4, 6-0. However, Roanoke won the remaining matches. Barker topped Hodges, 6-1, 6-1 in #2 action. Diskerud blanked Perry, 6-0, 6-0 at #3 singles. Lauren Marzal won as Roanoke's #4 player, defeating Shazadi 6-3, 6-2. Carroll lost just three games to Myat San 6-2, 6-1. Finally,
Elli Fields had an unblemished match against Ari Bene, 6-0, 6-0.
The Maroons return to action on Thursday, April 10
th as they host Lynchburg College at the Elizabeth Campus Courts. That match is scheduled for a 4:30 start.
