HAMPDEN-SYDNEY – The Roanoke College men's basketball team closes its 2013-14 campaign after falling 104-82 in the first round of the 2014 ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Maroons finish the season with a record of 12-13, while Hampden-Sydney advances to the ODAC Quarterfinals on Friday at 1:00 PM.
Many Maroons had outstanding performances in the 2013-14 season.
Daniel Eacho was a two-time ODAC player of the week, scoring 471 points over the course of the season. Just a junior, Eacho will enter his senior season with 929 points, just 71 points from joining the 1,000 point club. Consistently throughout the season, Eacho was the only player in the ODAC to be ranked in the top-five in both points (18.8 – 3
rd) and rebounds (9.6 – 2
nd) per game in the ODAC. He also ranked fourth in the conference in free throws made (101).
Julian Ramirez ranked first in the ODAC in assists, dishing out 135 this season, while also ranking second in steals with 51. He ranked 24
th in the nation in total assists, while also 25
th in assists per game (5.5).
Andrew Daniels ranked fourth in the ODAC in free throw percentage with a mark of 80.4 percent, while
Ethan Humphries ranked seventh in the conference in assists with 82. Page Moir also finished the 2013-14 season having accumulated 399 career wins over his 25 years at the helm of the Roanoke College men's basketball program.
Andrew Daniels led the Maroons in scoring on the night, putting up 22 points, shooting 4-8 from behind the arc. He also dished out four assists.
Daniel Eacho followed with 15 points and tied for a team-high five rebounds.
Cameron Smith was the final Maroon in double-figures, scoring 12 points and also pulling down 12 rebounds.
Julian Ramirez was the third Maroon with five rebounds for Roanoke, also with two assists and two steals.
Ethan Humphries finished with a team high five assists.
While the Tigers struck first in the game,
Andrew Daniels knocked down a three-pointer to give the Maroons an early 3-2 lead. Hampden-Sydney pulled ahead again, but
Daniel Eacho and
Ethan Humphries each hit baskets to reclaim the lead, 7-6 with 16:17 to play. Over the next six minutes though, the Tigers went on a 17-4 run, with Khobi Williamson scoring six of the 17 points for a 24-10 lead.
Daniel Eacho scored four points, while
Seth Bradley hit a layup as Roanoke trailed by 13, 29-16 with 7:14 to play. Over the final six minutes of the first half, all but two of Roanoke's points came from the free throw line.

Ethan Humphries all hit shots from the charity stripe, as Roanoke trailed at halftime, 53-31 to the Tigers.
The Maroons started the second half on a 7-2 run, kicking it off with a three pointer from
Cameron Smith. Roanoke cut the deficit to 17 just a few minutes in to the half. However, the Tigers went on a run of their own, outscoring the Maroons 11-2 through the 16-minute mark, with four different players finding the basket in the two minute-span.
John Fitchett hit a layup a minute later as the Maroons now trailed by 25, 67-42. Starting at 11:58 the teams traded a pair of baskets leading to a 75-48 Hampden-Sydney advantage. With 7:42 to play, the Maroons started dropping in three-pointers, as

Cameron Smith all hit threes from downtown, as five consecutive Roanoke baskets were treys. With 4:06 to play, the Maroons trailed Hampden-Sydney, 95-72. In the final 1:36, the Maroons outscored the Tigers 8-4, with free throws from
Darius Ford and
Jonathan Smith, but the Hampden-Sydney lead was too large, as Roanoke fell in the opening round of the ODAC Tournament, 104-82.
Six Hampden-Sydney player finished the contest in double-figures. Khobi Williamson led the squad with 19 points, shooting 6-12 from the field, and pulling down a team high nine rebounds. Greg Lewis came off the bench to score 15 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor, with three rebounds and two steals. Sasha Obradovic and Stephen Vassor each tallied 13 points, with Obradovic finishing with six rebounds. Leon Hargrove had 12 points and led all players in assists with nine for the night.
Hampden-Sydney outshot the Maroons 53.5 percent to 41.7 percent from the field, while the Maroons hit 80 percent of its shots from the charity stripe. The Tigers held the advantage in rebounds (44-33) as well as assists (21.14).
With the win, Hampden-Sydney advances to the ODAC Quarterfinal round, facing off against Randolph-Macon on Friday, February 28
th. That contest is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
