Volleyball Reaches Milestones After Defeating Guilford 3-0 on Wednesday

Box Score GREENSBORO, NC – The Roanoke College volleyball team defeated Guilford College, 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-18) on Wednesday.   The Maroons now have a record of 20-7, 7-3 in ODAC play, while the Quakers are 6-18, 2-9 in the ODAC.
 
The Maroons reach their longest win-streak of the season, winning seven matches in a row, Roanoke's longest win streak since 2013.  The Maroons pick up their 20th win of the season, marking the program's sixth 20-win season in school history, all under the tutelage of head coach Blair Trail.  This is the first 20-win season for the Maroons since 2010, and Roanoke improves from the 2013 season, having won 19 matches. 
 
The Maroons led in kills 39-32, with Brooke Bostwick topping the team with 16 kills in the match.  She was followed by Macey Tyree, who tallied nine kills over the course of the night.  Jessica Block led all players on the evening with 20 assists, while Alexandra Martin dished out 12 assists in the contest.  Digs were evenly spread out amongst the Maroons, with Olivia Earls tallying seven.  Ryan Hedgepeth was second for Roanoke in digs with six, while three different players finished with five apiece.  Hedgepeth and Bostwick each finished with three service aces, combining for six of the Maroons' nine on the night.
 
Guilford finished the night with 32 kills, led by Casey Davis with 10.  Malie Munro was second among all players on the night, dishing out 16 assists.   Munro also led with 11 digs, while Brooke Herr tallied 10 digs of her own.  The Quakers also led in block assists 10-4, with Michaela Walla and Kelsey Ruehling finishing with two block assists each.
 
The Maroons return to action on Saturday, November 1st, as they host both Virginia Wesleyan and Averett in Bast Gymnasium.  The Maroons will take on Virginia Wesleyan at 11:00 PM, while they will face the Cougars at 3:00 PM.  Virginia Wesleyan and Averett will square off at 1:00 PM as well.
