Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight, Defeat Randolph 2-0

Box Score SALEM -  The Roanoke College women's soccer team won their third straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference game on Tuesday, defeating Randolph College 2-0.  The Maroons have a record of 10-6, 6-4 in ODAC play, while the WildCats are 4-11, 1-9 in the ODAC.
 
This is the second three-game ODAC win streak for the Maroons this season, as they won three in a row from September 23rd to October first.  During that run the Maroons defeated Emory & Henry (2-1), Randolph-Macon (4-1) and Eastern Mennonite (1-0).  The Maroons have also won their last three games by way of shutout, winning those games with a combined score of 15-0.
 
Roanoke tallied one goal in each of the halves.  The Maroons' first goal came from Emily Whitaker at 33:44 in the first half.  She fired a shot into the left side of the net for her third goal of the season.  Whitaker's goal was assisted by Linnea Kremer, her first of the season.  Roanoke's second goal came at 82:36 in the second half.  SierraLynn Johnson, who scored four goals in Roanoke's 8-0 win over Sweet Briar, scored Roanoke's second goal of the night.  She was also assisted by Kremer on the play, Kremer's second of the evening.  The Maroons held off the WildCats for the remainder of the game, picking up the 2-0 win.
 
The Maroons outshot Randolph 30-1 in the game, with Marlana Barnard taking 10 of Roanoke's shots.  Emily Whitaker chipped in with eight attempts of her own, while Ashley Barnes fired off four.  Carolyn Sarbacher played all 90 minutes in net, making one saves.
 
Randolph's Erin McClelland took the team's lone shot of the night, which was on goal.  The WildCats' goalkeeper, Quinn-Lynn Bates tallied 12 saves in her complete game effort.
 
The Maroons return to action on Friday, October 24th as they travel to Shenandoah University for ODAC action.  That contest is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
