Box Score SALEM – The Roanoke College volleyball team defeated Washington and Lee 3-2 (16-25, 25-16, 12-25, 25-20, 15-12) on Wednesday evening in the Bast Center.  The Maroons now have a record of 15-7, 3-3 in the ODAC, while the Generals are 19-3, 6-1 in ODAC play.

Tonight's win over Washington and Lee is the first Roanoke regular season victory over the Generals since October 25, 2000, and first win since 2009 in the ODAC Tournament.  With the win, the Maroons hand the Generals, who received votes in the last NCAA poll, their first loss in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season, and their first ODAC loss since October 19, 2013.

The two teams alternated wins over the first four sets, but it was in the fifth where the excitement picked up.  The Generals jumped out to a 6-3 lead off the serves of Alex Kinzer and Katie Volk.  The Maroons took an opportune timeout, and rattled off three consecutive points tying the game at 6-6.  The teams saw ties through 7-7 and 8-8, until Roanoke took the lead at 10-8 off two kills from Macey Tyree.

Roanoke maintained the lead, alternating points with Washington and Lee over the next seven points, leaving Roanoke with a 13-12 lead.  The Maroons went on to win the next two points on Kills from Logan Graves and Allison White, both assisted by Jessica Block for the big Roanoke College, 3-2 win on Wednesday.

The Maroons were led in Kills by Logan Graves with 12, followed by Allison White with 11.  Jessica Block dished out a team high 28 assists, while Alexandra Martin finished with 15.  Ryan Hedgepeth was the Maroons digs leader picking up 30, while Block tallied 12.  Graves and Sarah Long also topped the team in block assists with three apiece.

The Generals had two player in double figure kills, with Anna Lausberg notching 13 to Kasey Cannon's 10.  Alex Kinzer led all players in the contest with 39 assists.  Katie Volk led the Generals with 23 digs, while Kasey Cannon picked up 16.  Kinzer and Maddie Kosar had 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
