STAUNTON – The Roanoke College volleyball team defeated Mary Baldwin College in four sets on Tuesday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 11-6, while the Flying Squirrels have a mark of 0-11.
Roanoke picked up the four set victory, only falling narrowly in the second set of the evening (25-14, 23-25, 25-10, 25-19).
Samantha Klostermann led the team in kills with 17, while also picking up nine digs.
Alexandra Martin and
Jessica Block both finished the contest with 11 assists.
Mackenzie Tyree tallied 11 digs, while
Carrie Heldreth tallied nine. Heldreth also topped the squad with four service aces.
Mary Baldwin's Katelyn Rice led the team with 14 kills, followed by Latoya Diggs with 10. Reilly Kelly tallied 19 assists while Sara Valdivieso finished with 12. Diggs also led all players in digs with 24.
The Maroons return to action on Friday, September 27
th as they play host to Southern Virginia University in the Bast Center. That contest is scheduled for a 6:30 PM start.
