DANVILLE – The Roanoke College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the closing day of the Averett Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons fell to Austin College 3-2, then lost to host school Averett 3-0.
Against Austin College, the maroons battled to a tight defeat in five sets.
Samantha Klostermann tallied five kills, while
Alexandra Martin finished with 26 assists.
Jessica Block added in with 12 assists.
Mackenzie Tyree accumulated 30 digs, while
Macey Tyree finished with 16 of her own.
The Maroons ran up against a tough Averett University in the second match of the day, falling 18-25, 21-25, and 15-25.
Macey Tyree had six kills in the game, while
Mackenzie Tyree tallied 13 digs.
Alexandra Martin dished out eight assists in the effort.
Roanoke returns to action on Tuesday, September 4
th as they take on Ferrum College on the road. That contest is scheduled for a 6:30 PM start.
