#20 Men's Lacrosse Tops Randolph 18-4 in ODAC Opener

Box Score LYNCHBURG - The #20 ranked Roanoke College men's lacrosse team was victorious in its ODAC opener, defeating Randolph College 18-4 on Friday. The Maroons now have a record of 3-2, 1-0 in the ODAC, while the WildCats are 2-5, 0-1 in ODAC play.

The Maroons got off to an early start, as team scoring leader, Richard Lachlan, netted the first goal just seven seconds into the first quarter. Tyler McWilliams added a goal of his own, after assisting the first goal, at the 12:30 mark. At 11:47, Colton Wood of Randolph scored the team's first goal and helped pull the Wildcats within one, 2-1.

Roanoke then went on a tear, as Will Pilat scored four consecutive goals through the 14:30 mark in the second quarter. Up to that point in the contest, Roanoke held a 6-1 lead. After Pilat's scoring streak, five different Maroons (John Rayburn, Conner DuBois, Mike Hayden, Brendan Nizolek, and McWilliams) all found the back of the net. With 4:31 to play in the half, Roanoke had built an 11-1 lead. Colton Wood picked up his second goal of the game, which served as the last goal of the half, with 3:07 to play. Entering halftime, Roanoke led 11-2.

Randolph started off hot in the second half, scoring both with 9:09 (Bobby Crosby), and the 4:58 (Colton Wood) marks. Wood netted his second man-up goal with that score. The Maroons continued to feature more scorers through the end of the contest, as they finished the remainder of the contest on a 7-0 run. Scoring in that time for the Maroons were Nizolek, Cam Ormiston, Tyler Cockey, Seth Fortmann, Mike Perrino, Colin Rossano and Josh Sibio. Over the course of the game, 13 different players scored in Roanoke's 18-4 victory over Randolph College.

Will Pilat led the Maroons in scoring with his career-high four goals. He also tallied one assist on the evening. Tyler McWilliams and Brendan Nizolek each finished with two goals, while Mike Hayden led with three assists. Five different players served as the net-minder for Roanoke, with Charles Pease serving the most time (35:56) and tallying five saves.

Colton Wood finished the contest with a team high three goals for the WildCats. Bobby Crosby got the only other goal for the team, while dishing out one assist. Cam Davis played all 60 minutes between the pipes, accumulating 17 saves.

The Maroons face a true test on Sunday, March 17th as they host #7 Salisbury University in Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
