Adams' Hat Trick Leads Maroons to 6-1 Victory over Eastern Mennonite

Box Score HARRISONBURG - For the second time this season, the Roanoke College women's soccer team was victorious by the score of 6-1, this time over Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action.

The Maroons now have a record of 4-2-1 and are 3-0 in ODAC action, while the Royals are 3-4 and 0-2 in the ODAC.

Roanoke opened up firing in the first half, outshooting EMU 25-1 in the period. However it wasn't until the 17-minute mark when the Maroons first struck. Rebekah Adams but together a hat-trick in a five minute span, scoring her first goal at 17:46 off a pass from Carmen Graves. Stephanie Parenteau tallied an assist on the second Adams goal at 19:24. Adams picked up her third unassisted at 21:01.

The Maroons continued to score in the second half when current ODAC women's soccer player of the week, Carmen Graves, scored a goal at 24:58, off a pass from Maya Kantor. At half, Roanoke led 4-0.

In the second half, Stephanie Parenteau picked up where the Maroons left off in the first, scoring just three minutes into the period. Sarah Valero followed suit at the 61:00 mark to give Roanoke a 6-0 lead. EMU's Nora Osei scored just a minute later to cut the Royal's deficit to five, but that would be the final goal of the contest.

Parentau led the Maroons in shots with 11, followed by Nathalie Torres with five. Four Maroons split time in goal, with Sarah Dvorak picking up 20:01 minutes and the lone save for Roanoke.

The Maroons outshot the Royals 41-2 in the contest, 21 of those shots were on goal. Roanoke also led in corner kicks 11-3.

Roanoke returns to action on Saturday, September 22nd as the Maroons play host to The University of the South. The contest will be held in Donald J. Kerr Stadium and will kick-off at 1:00 PM.
