LYNCHBURG - Roanoke battled ODAC-rival Lynchburg College to a scoreless tie in an ODAC match Wednesday evening at Shellenberger Field. The Maroons now 5-3-1 and 3-1-1 in ODAC play, while the Hornets are 3-5-3 overall and 2-0-3 in the ODAC.
Roanoke is now 36-20-6 all-time against Lynchburg. These two teams also battled to a 0-0 tie in their ODAC openers in 2011 at Donlad J. Kerr Stadium in Salem.
Both teams were fairly even in shots in the first half, with both teams firing off five shots during the period. Roanoke held the edge in attempts in the second half, getting off 11 shots to Lynchburg's seven. The Maroons got the final two shots during the night with Garrett Eldrige taking the last one at 108:05, which was saved by the Hornet's Michael Releford to end the game in the 0-0 tie.

Patrick Bain all finished the contest with three shots each, while
Brian White and
Grant McAvan tallied two. The Hornet's Luke More led all players with six shots. Roanoke held the edge in shots 20-18, and a larger margin in corner kicks (8-2). Roanoke's
Cole Sinclair played all 110 minutes in the goal and tallied three saves.
The Maroons return to action on Friday, October 5th as they travel to Harrisonburg to face off against Eastern Mennonite. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM kickoff.
