SALEM - The Roanoke College volleyball team defeated Guilford College 3-0 on senior night on Wednesday. The Maroons now have a record of 14-10, 3-5 in the ODAC, while the Quakers sit at 8-12 and 2-4 in ODAC play.
Before the contest, Blair Trail and the RC volleyball staff helped celebrate the careers of two seniors:
Courtney Cooper and
Shannon Stone. Roanoke's 14 wins double the amount of wins from the 2011 season. The Maroons also have won seven of their last 10 matches. Roanoke is 16-10 all-time against Guilford as well.
Sarah Long led the team in kills with 12, followed by
Macey Tyree tallied six.
Shannon Stone continues to lead the team in assists with 19, while
Alexandra Martin finished with 14. Martin also topped the team in service aces with three.
Mackenzie Tyree led all players in the contest in digs with 21. Stone also had six total blocks and Samantha Klosterman had four.
Guilford's Brittany DeCesare led the Quakers in kills with seven, while Taylor Whitley led all players in assists with 21.
The Maroons return to action on Tuesday, October 16
th as they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to face Eastern Mennonite University. That contest is scheduled for a 6:30 start.
