SALEM - The Roanoke College men's soccer team defeated Shenandoah University 3-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action on Wednesday. The Maroons are now 7-3-1 and are 5-1-1 in the ODAC, while the Hornets are 2-11-1 and 0-7 in ODAC play.
Roanoke is 10-4 all-time against Shenandoah and has won the last two meetings between the two teams.
Garrett Eldridge got the scoring going early for the Maroons as he found the back of the net 8:03 into the contest. A.J. Tierce was credited on the goal that gave Roanoke the 1-0 lead. The Maroons scored again just three minutes later, when Bryan White scored unassisted off a rebound.
Grant McAvan gave Roanoke the 3-2 lead entering halftime, off of a
Tyler Carbaugh pass.
Roanoke held Shenandoah scoreless up to the 81
st minute of the game when the Hornets' Andrew Ralli scored a header goal to cut the deficit to two, 3-1. However, that goal would prove to be the final one of the game, as Roanoke defeated Shenandoah 3-1.
Roanoke outshot Shenandoah 14-6 and led in corner kicks 6-2. McAvan led all players in shots with three.
Cole Sinclair picked up the win in goal for the Maroons by playing the first half and not seeing a single shot.

Will Dooley and split time in the second half, each making two saves.
The Maroons return to action on Saturday, October 13th, as they travel to Lynchburg to face Randolph College. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
