Box Score LEXINGTON --- Madeline Forrestel's header in the 70^th minute gave Washington and Lee a 1-0 victory over Roanoke in ODAC action Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field. The Maroons slipped to 7-2-1 overall, 3-1 in the ODAC, while the Generals propels their record to 6-1-1, 3-0-1 in conference play.

Forrestel came off the bench to put up three shots to lead her team, including the header from a cross from Holley Beasley for the eventual game-winner.

Roanoke had three opportunities late to score the equalizer in the final seven minutes of regulation. Carmen Graves (Christiansburg, VA, Christiansburg) had a good look, but her shot was saved by goalkeeper Emily Leary.

Rebekah Adams (Springfield, VA, West Springfield)corner kick with a minute left found Sara Dorrance (Owings Mills, MD, Mercy), but her header was blocked. Lauren Schwarcz (Flemington, NJ, Hunterdon Central) tried to capitalize on the rebound, but Leary came up big again for the Generals with her fourth save of the day as time expired.

WLU held a 13-8 edge in shots, including a tight 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Roanoke, which is 18-15-4 against the Generals, had a 7-5 lead in corner kicks. Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, MD, Northern) collected four saves in goal for the Maroons.

The women return home on Saturday, Oct. 1 to battle Virginia Wesleyan in a pivotal ODAC showdown. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
