Roanoke needed only one goal to get out of Emory & Henry with a 1-0 conference victory on Wednesday evening. The Maroons improve to 5-2-1, 2-0 in the ODAC, while the Wasps drop to 3-4, 1-2 in conference play.

In the 20^th minute of play in the first half, AJ Tierce (Vorrhees, NJ, Eastern) scored off a corner kick from Peyton Lambert (Chesapeake, VA, Western Branch) for his first game-winner of the season.

Avery Makel (Nellysford, VA, Nelson County) finished with two saves in goal for the Maroons, while E&H keeper Justin Spencer tallied seven saves on the night.

RC outshot EHC, 19-5, including 8-2 in shots on goal. The Maroons also held a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Tierce led Roanoke with three shots, two on goal, followed by Drew Claytor (Greensboro, NC, Grimsley) with three shots, one on target.

The men will return to action Saturday, Sept. 24 as they host ODAC-foe Virginia Wesleyan at Kerr Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
