Roanoke Wins ODAC-Opener, 3-0 Over Randolph

Box Score LYNCHBURG - Roanoke picks up its first ODAC victory over Randolph College tonight, 3-0. The Maroons move up to 4-1-1, 1-0 in the ODAC, while the Wildcats fell to 3-2, 0-1 in conference play.

This contest marks the 32nd consecutive series win for the Maroons over the Wildcats. Roanoke has led the scoring differential 39-1 over the last six meetings.

Cindy Suttora (Long Island, NY, Our Lady of Mercy Academy) opened up the scoring for the Maroons by placing one in the back of the net in the 21st minute to take the 1-0 lead. This goal was Suttora's second of the season. Only 12 minutes later, freshman Erin Philips (Resiterstown, MD, Maryvale) netted her first career goal to give Roanoke the 2-0 lead.

The final goal for the Maroons came in the 41st minute as Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA) redirected a cross from Devon Harrell (Nahant, MA) to the back of the net, to increase the score to 3-0.

Roanoke attacked throughout the whole game, leading in the shot category 24-3. Parenteau led the charge with nine shots and now has a team-high 27 shots on the season.

Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, MD, Northern) picked up the win for the Maroons only facing three shots. Randolph's keeper, Hunter Gibson played all 90 minutes, saving 12 goals of 24 shots faced.

The Maroons will return to action Sunday, Sept. 19^th as they travel to face Christopher Newport in Newport News, VA. Game time is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
