SALEM --- Bridgewater won the final two sets to knock off Roanoke, 3-2 in ODAC action Tuesday evening. The Maroons slips to 3-12 overall, 1-4 in the ODAC, while the Eagles improve to 9-8, 2-3 in conference play.
The Maroons fell in five sets by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 14-25 and 10-15. The women are now 12-49 all-time against the Eagles.
Samantha Klostermann (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) totaled a season-best 16 kills along with 11 digs.
Sarah Long (Midlothian, VA, Midlothian High School) added 11 kills and eight digs while
Kelsey Largen (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) finished with 10 kills and a team-high 15 digs.
Shannon Stone (Williamsburg, VA, Lafayette) contributed 26 assists followed by
Rachel Hawkins (Winchester, VA, Millbrook), who had eight kills and five digs.
Katie Long led Bridgewater with 13 kills, followed by Cadie Castle with eight and Mara Hagan with seven on the night. Emily Cassell led BC with 17 digs while Lindsay Kallam ended up with 34 assists for the Eagles.
The women return to action on Thursday, Oct. 6 as they battle Meredith in non-conference action. The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Bast Center.
