LYNCHBURG --- Roanoke dropped a 2-0 decision to Lynchburg in ODAC action Wednesday evening. The Maroons fell to 9-4-1 overall, 5-3 in the ODAC. The Hornets improved to 12-2-1, 7-0-1 in the conference.
Lynchburg controlled the momentum of the contest throughout, as the Hornets outshot the Maroons, 25-7, including a commanding 10-1 shots on goal advantage. LC also had eight corner kicks while Roanoke didn't attempt one the entire night.
Defender
Maya Kantor (New City, NY, Clarkstown) led the Maroons with three shots on the night, followed by
Genevieve McManus (Fairfax, VA, Chantilly) who tallied two shots.
Angela Bosco led Lynchburg with 10 shots, including a goal in the second half. She earned her assist on Jessica Gonzalez's goal in the first half for the eventual game-winner. Brittany Klippstein totaled seven shots for the Hornets.
Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, MD, Northern) collected a season-best eight saves for Roanoke. Jackie Bader had only one save for the Hornets, who remain atop the ODAC Standings.
The women will host Sweet Briar on Senior Night Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Kerr Stadium. It will be the final home contest for seniors
